The International Genealogical Index

The International Genealogical Index contains many millions of baptismal and marriage records, complied by the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (LDS). With its base in Salt Lake City the Genealogical Department of the church compiles many records which are made available for genealogical research.

The IGI, as it is known, is an index of many records and can provide an easy method to discover an event which can then be searched for at source. The index is arranged in country and surname order, then subsequently in forename and chronological order.

The index is by no means complete but because of its wide coverage does provide a very useful starting point in searching for an event.

The data is published online at the Family Search website ↗.

I have many hundreds of such records from the IGI covering many different variations of the spelling of the surname Rowden.
